  • Kanpyō (干 瓢) Logo indicating a wikipedia linkLogo indicating a link to the wikidata element – It is a well-known Tochigi product, made from a calabash called yūgao (夕顔, literally "the face of the evening"). This is cut into thin slices and dried, which should be soaked in water before use. The end product is most often used as a garnish in sushi rolls. Tochigi produces 90% of Japan's Kanpyō.
  • Strawberries  – Tochigi is also the largest Japanese producer of strawberries.
  • Gyōza (餃子) Logo indicating a wikipedia linkLogo indicating a link to the wikidata element – Utsunomiya is famous for its gyōza. These are dumplings with a variety of ingredients, most often garlic and pork. There are many establishments with tasty gyōza in Utsunomiya. You can taste not only yaki-gyōza (grilled in a pan) but also age-gyōza (fried) and sui-gyōza (steamed). Tochigi is the prefecture that consumes the most gyōza in Japan.
  • Tochigi wagyū  – It is a Japanese breed of beef. It is an expensive, fatty marbled beef that can be served as (among other things) steak, hamburger or thinly cut for sukiyaki or shabu-shabu dishes. It is well appreciated by the locals.
  • Soba and udon  – Soba are noodles made from buckwheat and other grains. Handmade soba or udon (thick wheat flour noodles) are served in soup bowls with local vegetables and meats, or separately with a sauce on the side to dip them in. You can suck them up loudly as is done in Japan!
