Torrox is a resort on the Costa del Sol.

background

Torrox is east of Málaga at the Costa del Sol. As is so often the case in this area, it is divided into two districts, namely Torrox-Costa, the district directly on the coast, which is the home of holidaymakers, and Torrox Pueblo, the actual village where you can enjoy the original life can still feel a little here on the coast. Since Torrox is still in the building bug, it won't be that long before the two districts have grown together. It is said that Torrox has the best climate in the world here. The city is sheltered from the mainland and sunshine all year round on the Costa del Sol. You can also spend the winter here. Offers for this are also available.

By plane

The nearest airport is that Malaga airport. which can be reached by car in about half an hour. A bus line also connects the airport with Torrox.

By train

The nearest long-distance train station is in Malaga. A connection to the suburban train network of Malaga is planned, but should be put on hold due to the economic difficulties in this region. The long-distance train station in Malaga can be reached by bus, as Malaga's central bus station is also located here.

By bus

The public bus goes to Malaga and in the other direction to Nerja. The central bus station 1 is located in the district of Torrox-Costa on the N-340a. The two city lines from Torrox also stop here:

  • Line 1: Torrox Pueblo - Torrox Costa - El Morche
  • Line 2: Torrox Pueblo - Torrox Costa - El Morche - Torrox Park - Torrox Costa - Torrox

In the street

Torrox is on the Autopista del Mediterráneo A-7 (Symbol: ASkm 285). On it you can easily drive to Malaga and east towards Nerja. The MA-7207 leads north to the nature park Sierras de Tejeda.

By boat

mobility

Torrox isn't very big. The districts can be easily explored on foot. Two local bus lines (lines 1 and 2) connect the two districts and El Morche with each other. With the times indicated on the boards, however, you should note that this is the departure time at the respective start of the bus and Not about the departure time at the stop where you are currently standing. There is a connection to the higher-level bus network at the central bus station.

In Torrox-Costa (note: whether this also applies to the old town center of Torrox is beyond my knowledge) there are areas marked in blue that only allow a temporary stop. There are corresponding Parking discs to be stored in the vehicle as we know it from Germany. The parking permits are available in supermarkets, for example, and are only valid in Torrox.

Tourist Attractions

View of the Torrox Costa beach
  • The most important sight is the very long beach promenade. It stretches over the entire length of the beach and offers everything a beach promenade has to offer. From the mini supermarket to the snack bar to the restaurant, everything can be found here.
  • At the end of the promenade are the excavations of the former Roman town.
  • In the east of Torrox there is a lighthouse and a viewing platform. From here you have a beautiful view over the entire coast around the city.

activities

  • You can do everything in Torrox that you can do at a stand. The sandy beach is 9 kilometers long and very clean. You can spend your entire vacation here.
  • If you want to see the Spanish way of life, you have to go to Torrx Pueblo. Here you can still experience original Andalusia. This has of course already been changed by tourism, but not so much that you cannot recognize it and enjoy it.
  • Around the place you can enjoy the climate and the surroundings while walking. You can experience olive groves, orange and lemon trees here. You can also admire a herd of sheep or goats with a shepherd here. You definitely shouldn't miss it. Torrox is not just a beach.

shop

In Torrox-Pueblo there are mostly smaller shops. Supermarkets, however, can be found on the coastal road (N-340a) from Torrox Costa. There are several larger and smaller supermarkets as well as an ALDI and a LIDL at the end of the street near the lighthouse.

kitchen

The restaurants are very attuned to the city's guests and therefore offer all kinds of local cuisine in addition to local cuisine. Whether Italian, Chinese or Greek, you can actually find everything you can expect in a holiday resort. It is a bit more original in Torrox-Pueblo, but here too the cuisine has already adapted to the many holidaymakers. On the beach promenade there are some restaurants that grill sardines on skewers over an open fire. You shouldn't miss it.
