Trochtelfingen is a small town on the Middle Swabian Alb in the Seckach valley, which is located in the Mägerkingen district of the Lauchert flows out.

Trochtelfingen has an eventful history. The place was probably mentioned in a document as early as 766, it is secured for the year 1161. The place came to Württemberg in 1310, already 6 years later the Count of Werdenberg received Trochtelfingen as a marriage property. From the 16th century it belonged to the Counts of Fürstenberg, from 1806 to the Hohenzollern and thus from 1850 to Prussia. From 1925 onwards the city belonged to the district of Sigmaringen, in 1972 it came to the district of Reutlingen.
The districts of Steinhilben, Mägerkingen, Wilsingen, Hausen and Haid belong to the town of Trochtelfingen on the Kuppenalb.
