Trzebiatów (German Treptow (at Rega)) is a medieval place in Poland in the voivodeship West Pomerania at the one named after the place Treptow coast, about 8 km south of the beach on the Pomeranian Bay. The Rega, a popular kayak route, flows through the town towards the Baltic Sea.

background

Trzebiatów received city rights as early as the 13th century, was a member of the Hanseatic League and an important trading point in medieval Pomerania. Numerous brick Gothic buildings from this period testify to the former size and importance of the city, which was destroyed in the Second World War and then rebuilt.

The place is quite small and manageable. It is therefore particularly suitable for tourists who are looking for peace and relaxation away from the hustle and bustle. The place itself is not on the beach, but all beach towns on the coast can be reached quickly and easily from here. To the north of the village, behind a dense forest area, there is an uninhabited stretch of beach more than 10 km long for romantics and lovers of lonely beaches. The place is a traffic hub for the region.

security

The Baltic coast usually falls flat under water and there are hardly any tides or unpredictable currents. Bathing is therefore usually safe for families with children and swimming accidents are rare. When swimming accidents do occur, excessive alcohol or drug consumption is usually involved. However, if you follow the general bathing rules and do not go into the water when the waves are high, you have little to fear.

health

If you are legally insured in Germany or Austria, you can get medical treatment in Poland without any problems and the costs will then be reimbursed / covered by your own health insurance. Basically, you need the European health card EHIC for this. If you travel to Poland for (dental) treatment, the assumption of costs should be clarified with the German / Austrian health insurance company in advance.

The supply of pharmacies is quite good and many medicines are cheaper in Poland than in Germany. Prescription drugs can only be obtained upon presentation of a doctor's prescription. It is best to clarify in advance whether the desired medicines require a prescription in Poland and to get a prescription from a Polish doctor in advance.

Doctors and pharmacists in Poland usually speak English very well, and some also speak German. You can find out which doctors or pharmacists speak German at the local chamber of doctors or pharmacists.

climate

In the region there is a transitional climate between maritime and continental climates. The amount of precipitation is lower and the temperature fluctuations higher (warmer summers, colder winters) than on comparable coasts in Western Europe.
