Tug Dair (Togdheer) is a region of the Somaliland.

The Italian name takes its name from the local river called "Tug Dair" or "Long River".

The south-eastern area is the subject of claims by the PuntlandHowever, thanks to a strong government presence, this will not affect the permanence of any visitors.

By car

There are highways leading from Berber is Hargheisa to the Northwest (Woqooyi Galbeed). There is also a road from Las Anod in Sol. All of these highways lead to Burao.

Rural landscape near Burao

The area south of Burao is a huge grassy savannah that is home to a wide range of animals. Although local wildlife was hunted to near extinction during the civil war of the 1980s, the animal population is now starting to grow again. The animals that roam the region include: kudu, wild boars, zebras, Somali wild asses, warthogs, antelopes, Somali sheep, wild goats, camels, lions and leopards, as well as numerous species of birds.
