  • The Hadrian's Wall, the old Roman border fortifications, took in Wallsend began in the Segedunum fort and led from here over 113 km to the Solway Firth. Few artifacts have survived in the heavily populated County of Tyne and Wear. The remains of the wall can be cycled along the Hadrian's Cycleway and hiked along the Hadrian's Wall Path.
