2 railway station, Ratakatu 13. Vaasa has several connections with regional trains every day Seinäjokiwhere to switch to Helsinki, Oulu, Rovaniemi and Tampere consist. Some of these trains run over Seinäjoki out until after Jyväskylä. In the morning there is a direct InterCity connection every day Helsinki.

The island Vaskiluoto is in front of the city and connected to it by a dam. There is one on the island 3 Ferry terminal. There is a daily ferry service from the Swedish university city all year round Umeå to Vaasa. The crossing takes 4 hours and a ticket costs € 35 per person (as of 1/2013). The line is from NLC Ferry Ab Oy operated with the ferry WASA EXPRESS. Next to the Hamnterminalen is also the dock for cruise ships.
