There Valpolicella is a valley of the Veneto, located in the province of Verona.
To know
Located in a hilly area that precedes the beginning of the Veronese Prealps, in the region Veneto. It includes the territory of seven municipalities, all belonging to the province of Verona.
Renowned since ancient Roman times for viticulture, and in particular for Amarone wine, it is also important for the extraction of red Verona marble.
From the architectural point of view, the landscape of Valpolicella is adorned with Venetian villas of great value and is embellished with capitals, churches, parish churches, districts and courtyards, which enrich the territory with evidence of years of history.
Geographical notes
The valley, which extends for 240 km², borders the Adige river to the south, is bordered to the east by the hills of Parona and Quinzano, while to the north it extends up to Lessini mountains. To the west it is separated from the Adige valley by Mount Pastello.
When to go
There is no time of year that is particularly suitable for visiting Valpolicella. However, especially for those interested in nature, a visit in spring or autumn can be recommended.

How to get
By plane
The nearest airport is Verona-Villafranca, named after Velerio Catullo. The airport boasts numerous national and European connections. The center of Valpolicella is then easily reachable along the southern ring road for about 18 km. Public transport from the airport does not exist and therefore it is necessary to take the aerobus to the Verona Porta Nuova railway station and from there continue with the ATV buses.
By car
The center of Valpolicella is easily reachable by exiting the Verona Nord tollbooth of the A22 motorway and then taking the southern ring road for about 12 km. The valley is also crossed by the Brennero state road. In the municipality of San Pietro in Cariano it is possible to find a parking area for campers.
On the train

The only railway station located in Valpolicella is the Domegliara station on the Brennero line, in the municipality of Sant'Ambrogio di Valpolicella. Trains from Bologna, Verona, Roverto, Trento and Bolzano stop at the station. The frecciabianca trains and the OBB trains do not stop. Verona Porta Nuova station is only about 14 km from the center of Valpolicella and can be more convenient than the small station of Domegliara due to the numerous taxis present and the adjacent bus stop.
