Facts about Vingåker

History

Vingåker has a long history, and the community became known as early as the 17th century through Säfstaholm Castle. It was not until the turn of the year 1962/1963 that Vingåker became its own municipality. The buildings in Vingåker were concentrated around the church until the creation of the western main line in 1862, when the station community grew. In 1971, the trains stopped stopping in Vingåker, but in 2003 the station was reopened to traffic. Vingåker has also had a long tradition of the clothing industry. However, this was moved or phased out sharply during the 1990s, and in 2005 the few remaining parts were sold abroad.
