Since the definition as a metropolitan area Greater Stockholm by the Swedish statistical authority SCB on January 1, 2005 the municipalities of Nykvarn, Nynäshamn, Södertälje and Norrtälje are officially closed Stockholm counted. This means that parts of the capital belong to Södermanland.
