One of the top thirteen states of United States, State which strikes as much by its beauty as by its ugliness. With mountains to the west, the sea to the east, and all kinds of terrain in between, Virginia offers a lot for travelers who dare to venture there.
Understand
Virginia is for lovers is the cryptic motto of the Virginia Tourist Board. What makes Virginia particularly attractive to lovers remains a mystery, but the region has its strengths: beaches, forests, some of the oldest towns in the world.North America, and the proximity to the region Mid-Atlantic and the deeper South.
Virginia is one of the original thirteen colonies, and one of the first states to ratify the Declaration of Independence. Its author, Thomas Jefferson, was indeed a native of Virginia, like eight other presidents of the United States.
The land now known as Virginia has been inhabited for hundreds of years by humans, and the Native American tribes who made Virginia their home and helped English immigrants, like the Powhatans, had some of the richest native cultures in the Colonies.
The state of Virginia separated from the Union in 1861, and has retained a strong heritage of the Civil War, as well as a strong sense of Southern pride and a sense of independence that prevails for much of the state (especially the capital Richmond) even today.

Everyone here speaks English, but in the countryside and in the southern and western counties many people speak with a “southern accent”. Although it is different from the accent one hears in the north, in general it is not difficult to understand.
