Volosko - Volosko

Volosko is a place in Croatia on the coast, in the armpit of the Kvarner Bay near the larger town Opatija. Volosko and also preluk are mainly known for windsurfing opportunities, especially in the summer months and in the morning from sunrise to 08:00, because of the wind (tramontane), which blows here from the north. Tramontane is there during clear skies and good weather. This wind is caused by the temperature differences between sea and land. It starts in the evening but is most powerful in the morning (4 - 5, sometimes 7 Beaufort). In Volosko and Preluk, the wave action is not very high (30 centimeters). Sometimes there is no wave at all. The tramontane is at its strongest in the western part of the bay.
