With the Thuringian Forest Railway can Waltershausen from direction Gotha or Bad Tabarz can be reached by getting off at the bus stop Waltershausen Gleisdreieck have to change to line 6. There is also a standard-gauge branch line from Fröttstädt, where you can catch regional trains from the main line ErfurtEisenach changes.

Waltershausen can be easily reached via the east-west Autobahn 4. The departure is called Symbol: AS 41a Waltershausen. South of the village, the B 88 runs from Eisenach to Ilmenau. The German toy route.

The Thüringerwaldbahn line 6, which Waltershausen opens up in island mode, stops at the following stations: Gleisdreieck, Ohrdrufer Straße, Goethestraße, Albrechtstraße and Bahnhof. The train takes 7 minutes for this. The frequency is not very regular, but you can expect a tram at least every half hour between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sundays and public holidays.

Tourist Attractions

The Tenneberg Castle rises on the castle hill above Waltershausen. It does not have a uniform architectural style, but influences from several epochs. There is a museum in the castle. Other places of interest are:
