The village of Werfenweng is characterized above all by its location on the southern edge of the Tennengebirge. Apart from the impressive landscape of the Tennengebirge, from whose peaks you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Berchtesgarden Alps, the Hohe Tauern, the Hochkönig and the entire Salzach Valley, Werfenweng itself offers only that in terms of sights 1 State Ski Museum and the 2 Village church. Werfenweng, however, is an ideal starting point for excursions to the nearby area Salzburg for vacationers who want to combine culture and nature experience in one vacation. Also worth a visit, especially for families with children, is the Hohenwerfen Fortress, located in the Salzach Valley above Throw imposing and which can be reached from Werfenweng by bike in under an hour or by car in about 15 minutes.

The Werfenweng mountain landscape is ideal for hiking, mountaineering and mountain biking in summer. The mountain peaks, which are difficult to reach, offer good opportunities for beginners and advanced climbers to let off steam. There is also the possibility in summer to visit the Werfenwengs bathing lake, which is located approx. 5 minutes from the city center and is adjacent to a small restaurant. There are changing rooms, toilets and a slide that leads into the lake. In winter, the lake can be used as an ice skating rink, provided that it is approved, and is still sufficiently illuminated in the dark to be able to ski there. There is a tennis facility right next to the swimming lake, which offers the opportunity to play tennis in summer. In winter Werfenweng is a paradise for skiers and snowboarders, as it offers the best slope conditions for all levels of difficulty. State-of-the-art lifts enable a high transport capacity, which means that you usually never have to queue for more than 2-3 minutes. In the valley, Werfenweng offers 30 km of cross-country trails for cross-country skiers, which extend through the entire valley.

Werfenweng's shopping opportunities are limited to the most important things. Groceries and hygiene items can be bought in a small supermarket near the town center. Since Werfenweng is a popular ski resort, there are three sports shops that mainly sell items for mountain sports. You can also rent winter sports equipment there and have it repaired.
