The region West coast lies in the west of the South islandNew Zealand. It borders the region in the north Tasman, in the east to the regions Canterbury and Otago and in the south to the region Southland.

The West Coast region stretches on the South Island between the Tasman Sea and the watershed of the Southern Alps. It is divided into three districts from north to south

Buller District

Located in the northern part of the region, it borders the Tasman region,

  • Karamea, northernmost settlement in the district, access to Kahurangi National Park
