The chineseZhuhai(Chinese: 珠海 市) is called the "City of Romanticism", the region describes itself as chinese riviera. For travelers it is primarily interesting as a border crossing to Macau. The city has few natural or cultural attractions that warrant a long vacation stay, but it is out for business people Hong Kong or Macau very popular as a weekend getaway. The currently four golf courses (two more under construction), a racetrack, various amusement parks and other options for recreational activities, in combination with the low prices, make overnight stays skyrocket on the weekends.

Zhuhai behaves like Macau Shenzhen to Hong Kong. Both special economic zones, which were founded by China in the capitalist model, in order to benefit from the wind of the two self-administration zones. It was not until 1979 that a fishing village developed into a megacity, after it had become a special economic zone a year earlier. 1.4 million people live on 1653 square kilometers; in comparison, Macau is almost uninhabited.

By plane
The small Zhuhai Sanzao Airport (IATA: ZGSD, ICAO: ZUH) offers connections to, among other things Shanghai.
By bus
Buses connect Zhuhai with, among other things Guangzhou (Canton) and Zhong Shan. The bus ride from Guangzhou takes about 2:40 hours and costs 80 yuan.
In the street
Zhuhai is well connected to China's national road network. Hong Kong-Lantau and Macau can be reached on the longest “bridge” in the world, 6.7 kilometers of which are built as a tunnel.
By boat
From Hong Kong there is a ferry connection to Zhuhai. The journey takes about 1:10 hours. Cost around 200 yuan (RMB) depending on the class. More ferries go to Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
mobility
Taxis are the easiest way to get around and are also relatively inexpensive. If you want, you can also plunge into the chaos of the bush. But don't expect any of the drivers to speak a language other than Cantonese or Mandarin.

Buildings
- New Yuan Ming Palace (圓明 新 園). The landmark, built in 1997, is the reconstruction of part of the summer palace in 1860, which was destroyed by foreign troops Beijing. The park covers 1.39 square kilometers and includes an 80,000 m² lake.

- Statue of the fisher girl (渔 女), on the bank. The symbol of the city.

This town is practically walking distance from Macau from and is therefore ideal for a short excursion for shopping. The prices here are well below those in Macau.

As in most places in China, the biggest threats are pickpockets and counterfeiters. The threat is not acute, but caution should be exercised. 50 and 100 yuan bills are particularly popular for counterfeiting. With the tilt test, the watermark and UV light test (small UV lamps for the key fob cost a few euros), you should test them immediately upon receipt and, if you suspect, return them and insist on a different note.

Macau and Hong Kong are practically on the doorstep. Guangzhou (Canton) can also be reached quickly by bus.
