In the years 1975-1998, the city administratively belonged to the then Sieradz Province. The city is located 23 km south of Sieradz and 23 km north of Wieluń.

Worth seeing

  • Post-Bernardine monastery complex from the beginning of the 17th century, which includes: the church of St. Cross and the monastery.
  • St. Cross, late Renaissance, 1603-1607. The square nave of the temple is covered with a four-field dome on pendetives with a lantern. The interior of the church is in the Rococo style.
  • St. Andrew, late renaissance, from 1611–1614 on the site of a wooden temple. The nave is built on a rectangular plan with truncated western corners. From the north, by the nave, there is a tower - four-sided at the bottom, and octagonal at the top with a baroque cupola. The church has a gable roof and two storeys of windows: the lower one is narrow, closed in a semicircle, and the upper one is round. The furnishings of the church are mostly baroque and rococo paintings, altars and sculptures.
  • Palace from the beginning of the 17th century, rebuilt in the 18th and 19th centuries. Founded by Andrzej Ruszkowski. Adjacent to the main body are perpendicular one-story side outhouses from the 18th century, erected on a rectangular plan.

Around the palace there are remains of an English-style park (5.7 ha) with valuable specimens elm trees. There are also a few growing here pedunculate oaksamong them an oak with a circumference of 625 cm, also ash, linden trees, chestnut trees and European larches. In the years 2004–2006, the facility was renovated and intended for social and cultural purposes. Currently, it is the seat of the town and commune office of Złoczew.

  • Parish cemetery. The oldest preserved graves come from the second half of the 19th century. There is a mass grave of Polish soldiers from September 1939 and the graves of 17 German soldiers who died in World War I on November 23-25 ​​and December 6, 1914.
  • Jewish cemetery (1 ha), established in the 16th century, used until 1942. Currently, it is not fenced and devastated.
  • The synagogue from the 18th century, during World War II, was one of the few buildings to avoid being destroyed by the Germans, it was pulled down in 1991.
