background

Location of the place in the middle of green fields

The town of Alhaurin el Grande is picturesquely situated in a fertile valley, bordered to the south by the Sierra de Mijas. Fields or lemon, orange or olive groves extend to the north, east and west. People are said to have lived here as early as the Stone Age. The town flourished for the first time under Roman rule. Some remains of the building, such as the arches of an aqueduct, still bear witness to the Roman occupation. Alhaurín el Grande was only known as a real place under the rule of the Arabs. They operated agriculture around the place, which was and is very well possible here thanks to irrigation.
