Alt Zauche is a small community on the northern edge of the Oberspreewaldes. The small district of Wußwerk also belongs to it, hence the official name is actually Alt Zauche-Wußwerk (Lower Sorbian: Stara Niwa-Wózwjerch)

The place is on the federal highway, the Castle (Spreewald), Straupitz and Luebben (Spreewald) connects. A public bus (line 500) also runs on this route.

Boat trips: The 1 Barge port Alt Zaucher Kahnfahrt is located a little outside southeast of the village. The offer includes 2-hour short trips in the high forest to the Schützanhaus up to 8-hour full-day tours with a visit to the Spreewald village of Lehde and the excursion restaurant Wotschofska.
