Landing stage
The Augustów Canal, named after the city Augustów, is a 100 km long canal from the early 19th century that connects the Vistula with the Memel in the northeast Poland in the voivodeship Podlaskie (82 km) and western Belarus (approx. 20 km) over numerous lakes and locks in the Augustów Heath connects. It is very popular with canoeists, sailors and other water sports enthusiasts.
Run
The canal flows through the Suwałki Lake District and is connected to the Rospuda, Czarna Hańcza, Marycha, Nice, Biebrza, Narew and Vistula as well as the Memel connected to the east. The river network can be navigated with a houseboat. If you want to sail the whole canal to Belarus, you may need a visa for Belarus.
