The future polishHighwayAutostrada A18 will be part of the link between Berlin and Wroclaw be. It connects - currently still state road (Droga krajowa) 18 - with the southern carriageway built in the 1930s, the German Federal motorway 15 with the Polish Autostrada A4, that of the medieval High Street Via Regia follows. A shorter section before the junction with the A4 is already designated as the Autostrada A18. The A18 forms part of the European route 36.

The A18 goes back to the south carriageway of the Reichsautobahn Berlin - Breslau built before the Second World War, to which the still missing north carriageway was added in 2008. Until the renewal of the southern carriageway, most of the route is still designated as a country road.

The approximately 75 km long Polish A18 continues the German Federal motorway 15 to the southeast via the Lusatian Neisse (Polish Nysa Łużycka) and the junctions Olszyna, Królow, Żary Zachod (Sorau), Żary Poludnie, Iłowa (German Halbau), Luboszów and Golnice. From here on it is developed as an autostrada to the Krzyżowa junction and is signposted. After another 3 kilometers, she meets the Autostrada A4.
