Bad Kosen is a district of the city Naumburg (Saale) in the south of the state Saxony-Anhalt.

getting there

By train

Bad Kösen benefits enormously from the relocation of long-distance traffic from the Saale valley to the high-speed route and the greatly improved local transport offer since December 2015. You can get to Naumburg by motor vehicle via the B 87 - Eckartsberga – Apolda to Bad Kosen. The B 87 is part of the to Eckartsberga Romanesque Road.

Bad Kösen is small and can easily be explored on foot. Parking is not a real problem.

The spa park and spa facilities are on both sides of the Saale. There is one way to avoid the detour over the road bridge 2 Bad Kosen passenger ferrywhich runs on weekends in April and from May to October every day except Mon between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. (lunch break 1245-1315).

Both date from the 12th century; Rudelsburg in particular is considered to be one of the most beautiful castles on the Saale and the romantic ideal of a medieval castle ruin. Here the poet Franz Kugler wrote the folk song "On the Saale bright beach, castles stand proud and bold" in 1826. The annual meeting of the fraternity student corps takes place at the Rudelsburg Kösener Seniors Convent Association is called. Some showcases with exhibits document the corps student tradition. In addition, the Rudelsburg is now primarily used as an excursion restaurant.
