  • Segeberger Kalkberg: To come to the point: The 91 m high limestone mountain does not consist of limestone (= calcium carbonate), but of gypsum (= calcium sulfate). The originally 110 m high mountain was removed by the gypsum mining up to 91 m. The remains of the Gipsberg have been under nature protection since 1930, after gypsum had previously been mined for centuries. Incidentally, the hill was formed before the last ice age.
