Bad Teinach-Zavelstein is a small town in the Teinach Valley Northern Black Forest, close to Calw.

Bad Teinach-Zavelstein is known nationwide as a climatic health resort and medicinal bath, but above all because of the mineral springs whose water goes under the name Teinacher and Hirschquelle to be expelled. The city lies in a side valley of the Nagold, it was created around 1970 through the merger of a total of 7 towns. Bad Teinach and Kentheim are in the valley, Emberg, Kentheim, Rötenbach, Schmieh, Sommenhardt and Zavelstein on the slopes. At that time, Bad Teinach was the smallest spa town in Baden-Württemberg with around 500 inhabitants; the town was visited by the dukes of Württemberg as early as 1770 and has been a royal spa since 1835. Zavelstein was once the smallest town in the country and has been recognized as a climatic health resort since 1985.

Neighboring communities are Oberreichenbach, Calw, Neubulach and Neuweiler.

By train

The 1 Teinach train station-Neubulach is away from the city on the Nagold Valley Railway, it leaves every half hour Pforzheim from over Calw to Horb am Neckar.

In the street

  • Of Pforzheim from one arrives at the B463 above Calw to Bad Teinach train station, the branch there L347 and the K4306 off to Bad Teinach or to Zavelstein.
  • Alternatively, one drives from Pforzheim on the B294 in the direction Bad Wildbad, in Calmbach you turn onto the B296 in the direction of Oberreichenbach, from there continue on the L346.

  • Crocus flower. Every year at the end of March / beginning of April, countless wild crocuses, which probably come from the Mediterranean region, bloom on a 52 hectare nature reserve. The begins in the center of Zavelstein Crocus path, it is signposted and provides information about this natural spectacle with display boards. The Teinachtal-Touristik informs under the Tel.-No. 07053-9205042 about the current status of this attraction.
  • 1  Zavelstein castle ruins. The original Stauferburg was converted into a castle around 1630. In 1692 it was destroyed by French troops.

Kentheim

  • The 2  St. Candidus Church in the district of Kentheim is at the entrance of the Teinach valley. It was built over 1000 years ago. Worth seeing frescoes from the 13th century
