What see

  • 1 Church of Saints Vito and Modesto, Provincial Road 9 of Binadone. Parish Church of Saints Vito and Modesto from the 16th century. It is a single nave church. The high altar, from 1700, is in Baroque style decorated in gilded wood. At the center of the altar stands a picture of the Holy Trinity dated 16th century and attributed to the local artist Ferraboschi Vall'Intelvese. On the sides of the altar there are two other paintings painted by the local artist Tortelli Zeffirino in the mid-twentieth century, one dedicated to the Madonna Assunta and one depicting the Sacred Heart.
  • Wash house at Lembra (Locality Lembra). Wash house located over 700 m from the village of Bene Lario along the mule track that leads to Lake Piano. The washhouse has a size of 6.10 m by 1.23 m with granite support surfaces and was used by the women of the village for washing clothes. It is fed by the Lembra spring and for this reason the water temperature is cool in summer and mild in winter (the spring water never drops below 8 degrees). The supporting structure has 6 plastered stone pillars, between one pillar and the next there is a wall with exposed bricks. The canals and downspouts are made of copper, the roof of wood while the floor is covered with pebbles.
Popular legends were born around the wash house, which is why the inhabitants of Bene Lario have a particular bond with this place which is periodically renovated and maintained. The last interventions date back to 2001, carried out by the municipal administration.
  • 2 Ancient mills of Bene Lario. The Mills are located about 900 m from the village in the eastern area of the Lago di Piano Nature Reserve, along the path that leads from Bene Lario to Piano di Porlezza. It is a very suggestive architectural complex due to its position entirely surrounded by greenery and they are the testimony of an agro-silvopastoral tradition. In the past, corn was grown in this area from which the flour for polenta was obtained and there were chestnut groves for the production of castagnacci.
Today there are no traces of the original mills, but the preserved structure of the buildings allows us to identify the spaces used as a stable, barn and home. The mills received the water for their operation from the Lembra spring, which was channeled as demonstrated by the numerous ruins of canalization structures in the area.
  • 3 Reserve of the Piano Lake, Via Statale, 117 (Piano Porlezza fraction of Carlazzo), 39 0344 74961, @. The Natural Reserve of Piano Lake it is one of the protected areas of the Region Lombardy. The reserve covers an area of 176.35 hectares, 85 of which are occupied by the basin of the lake of glacial origin, on the territories of the municipalities of Bene Lario and Carlazzo. The reserve is of interest for the different habitats that meet on a small surface and which represent the richness of the surrounding landscape. The main entrance to the reserve is in Piano Porlezza, a hamlet of Carlazzo, but it is also possible to access it from at least two paths starting directly from Bene Lario:
  • 1 Access to the Reserve via the path of the Mills
  • 2 Access to the Reserve via the Civagna stream path
