Abate building
- 1 Abate mansion (Abate building), Via Carmelo Abate, 12 (at the corner with via Luna. Bus stop Via Filocomo 5: line № 431N). Built between 1915 and 1918, (work of the architect Tommaso Malerba) in eclectic language (Eclecticism-liberty of Catania) of classic-baroque style. It was the residence of the painter Alessandro Abate.

free access. Inaugurated in 1975, (work of the sculptor Carmelo Mendola). It depicts the night scene of the shipwreck of Providence, described by Giovanni Verga in the novel The Malavoglias

Suddenly the wind began to whistle like the railway car, when it comes out of the hole in the mountain, above Trezza, and a wave arrived that had not been seen from where it had come, which made Providence creak like a sack of walnuts, and threw it in the air. free access. Built in 1757 (by Giuseppe Orlando from Palermo), dedicated to Demeter (the Latin Ceres), who was moved here in the garden at the Borgo, today's Piazza Cavour from the historic center.

Villa Miranda

Built from 1908 to 1909 (by the architect Francesco Fichera), in eclectic language (Eclecticism-liberty of Catania). The villa is one of the first important works of the architect Fichera in Catania. Note the particular attention to detail, and the attention focused on the complex distribution of volumes, which Fichera acquired, around 1905, during his apprenticeship in Palermo, alongside the architect Ernesto Basile. The corner turret is also typical of Ernesto Basile's architecture.

In 1974 the Piccolo Teatro was transformed from a Cultural Association into a Cooperative Society to r.l., expanding its activity and starting the collaboration with the Teatro Stabile of Catania at the A. Musco Theater. In November 1989 he inaugurated a new theatrical amphitheater space with a capacity of 242 seats in via Ciccaglione, professionally equipped, at the expense of the Cooperative itself. During the 1990/91 season, an important moment in the history of the Piccolo Teatro took place: the beginning of the collaboration with the Massimo Bellini Theater in Catania.
