Flemish Brabant - province of w Belgium, we Flanders. Its capital city is Leuven.
It borders with the provinces: Antwerp, Limburg, Walloon Brabant, Hainaut, Liège and East Flanders. It also surrounds Brussels Capital Region. Flemish Brabant covers an area of 2,106 km². In January 2008, it was inhabited by over a million people.
The province is divided into 2 districts (Halle-Vilvoorde and Leuven) and 65 municipalities.
Flemish Brabant was established in 1995 as a result of the division of former Brabant into three parts: Flemish, Walloon and Brussels-Capital Region, not belonging to any of the provinces.
