Frets is a city in the Ravensberger hill country in the northeast North Rhine-Westphalia (Ostwestfalen-Lippe). It is the second largest city in the Herford district.
background
The city of Bünde lies in the Ravensberger hill country between Teutoburg Forest and Wiehengebirge and is crossed by the Else. In addition to the city of Bünde, there are eleven districts that were independent communities until 1968: Ahle, Bünde-Mitte, Bustedt, Dünne, Ennigloh, Holsen, Hüffen, Hunnebrock, Muckum, Spradow, Südlengern, Werfen.
In 853, Bünde was first mentioned in a document as "Buginithi". From the 15th to the 19th century, the main line of business was flax processing; the tobacco industry developed here since the mid-19th century, but it declined in the 1960s.

By train
The 1 Bünde railway station is on the Löhne – Rheine railway line. IC trains on the Münster – Osnabrück – Hanover – Berlin line stop. Also hold in Bünde every day 7 ICs, which connect Berlin with Amsterdam Centraal. Further direct long-distance connections still exist Hengelo.
Regional trains run to Bad Bentheim, Bielefeld, Braunschweig, Hameln, Hanover, Herford, Hildesheim, Lübbecke, Minden, Osnabrück and Rahden.

The city can be reached via the A 30, junctions 27 (Bünde) or 28 (Hiddenhausen), and the state roads 545 and 557.

- The Else Werre cycle path leads from Bünde to the Weser.
