Chojnów (German: Haynau) is a small town in the polishLower Silesian Voivodeship. It is located on the Skora between the larger cities Legnica and Bolesławiec.

background

The place was founded before the Mongol storm in 1241 on the Vis Regia. In the age of Polish particularism, he came to the Duchy of Liegnitz, which in the 14th century became a fiefdom of Bohemia. The prosperous city was destroyed by the Hussites in 1428. The Thirty Years War also affected the rebuilt place. In the middle of the 18th century, Prussia conquered Silesia, which became part of the German Empire in 1871 and the Weimar Republic in 1918. In 1945 the place became Polish.
