Złotoryja(German: Goldberg) is a mountain town in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship in the Bober-Katzbach Mountains, a part of the Sudeten, to the Katzbach. The place is the starting point for hikes.
background
The place arose in the 12th century on the Katzbach, from which gold had already been extracted, and received town charter in 1211. Some townspeople took part in the battle Legnica 1241 against the Tatars and many died in the battle, but already in 1244 a Franciscan monastery was established in the city. In the course of Polish particularism, the city came to ever changing partial duchies, most recently to the Duchy of Liegnitz, which came under the Bohemian fiefdom in 1328. The place was affected in the Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years War. In 1742/1763 the place came to Prussia. In 1884 the city was connected to the rail network. The place continued to develop, with the exception of the times of the world wars. In 1945 he came to Poland.
