A Special Economic Zone (abbreviated: ZES; English: Special Economic Zone; English abbreviated: SEZ) is a geographical region with an economic legislation different from the legislation in place in the country of origin. Special Economic Zones are usually created to attract more foreign investment. In addition to the SEZs mentioned above, the entire island / province of Hainan enjoys such government privileges to develop tourism.
