City of the Pieve - Città della Pieve

City of the Pieve is a center ofUmbria in the province of Perugia.

It was awarded the orange flag by the Italian Touring Club.
La Pieve is the current cathedral dedicated to Saints Gervasio and Protasio, martyrs of Lombardy. The church was built in the Lombard period, in the 7th century AD. and around it a village developed which was later surrounded by walls. The city was subjected to Perugia except for a brief period in which it became a free municipality. In the 15th century Pietro Vannucci, known as Perugino, was born there.

How to orient yourself

The city center of the Pieve is very small and is articulated around the Piazza del Plebiscito, where the Civic Tower, the cathedral, the Palazzo Bandini and della Corgna are located.
