Regions

The Costa del Maresme lies in the Barcelona Province. It extends from Barcelona to the mouth of the river Tordera near Blaneswhere to go to the Costa Brava borders. In the southwest the Costa del Maresme merges into the Costa del Garraf, These two stretches of coast were popular in the past Costa Daurada(Costa Dorada) counted.

The name has its origin in the Catalan word Marismes, it means Swamps. This name has also carried over to the Comarca (Administrative unit) that stretches along the relatively narrow coastal strip.
