Constance (Constanța) is a city of the Dobruja.
To know
Constance, Mamaia and the other seaside resorts on the coast of Dobruja they experienced a boom in tourism at the time of the communist regime. After the restoration of democracy in the country, the presence of international visitors has experienced a sharp decline, replaced in part by domestic tourism. Passenger traffic at Constanta International Airport is proof of this, which in 2014 dropped to just 38,000 passengers. Although the following years have shown an upward trend (almost 100,000 passengers in 2016), the airport is still far from reaching the amazing records of the nearby airports. By plane
- 1 Mihail Kogălniceanu International Airport (Aeroportul Internațional Mihail Kogălniceanu). The airport is 26 km northwest of the center. Blue Air provides flights from the airports of Beauvais, Rome-Fiumicino, Bergamo, Brussels.

- 2 Central Station, Gării road. The railway from Bucharest in Constance it is one of the few lines that has undergone significant improvements. On some sections of the line the trains reach speeds of 160 km per hour and take about two and a half hours from one terminus to the other. Reservations are required for fast trains. On the other hand, it is not required for ordinary trains which, however, take from 4 to 5 hours to cover the 220 km that separate the two centers. Travel times are even longer for closer destinations such as Tulcea (130km in 4 hours) e Mangalia (45 km in 1 1/2 hours). Info and timetables on the website of Romanian railways.

Civil architectures
- 1 Genoese lighthouse (Farul Genovez), Remus Opreanu Road 12, ☎ 40 241 488 206.
Tue-Sun 10: 00-16: 00. Octagonal lighthouse, 8 meters high with a spiral staircase inside that allows you to reach the glass compartment that houses the lamp. It is a construction of 1860 remodeled on a pre-existing 13th century lighthouse.
- 2 Casino (Cazinoul), Bulevardul Queen Elizabeth 2.
Closed to the public. Built between 1880 and 1902 to a design by architects Daniel Renard and Petre Antonescu, the casino of Constance is considered a masterpiece of Art Nouveau. Although it is the very symbol of the city, the building appears to be in decay as it has never been subject to restoration, with the exception of minor adjustments carried out in 1986. The neglect shown by the authorities responsible for safeguarding the building has encouraged repeated thefts inside. Casino Constance is famous for hosting the Russian imperial family in 1914.
- 3 House of the Lions (Casa cu Lei), Strada Dianei.
Closed to the public. A late 19th century palace adorned with columns supporting statues of lions at the height of the cornice. It was commissioned by the Armenian merchant Dicran Emirzian to the Romanian architect Ion Berindei who was inspired by the patrician palaces of Genoa. In the period between the two world wars, the house of the lions was the seat of the local Masonic lodge.

- 1 Plaja Modern. The closest beach to the center, immediately after the marina
- 2 Zoom Beach. Further north of the previous one is an arched beach which takes the name of Plaja 3 Papuci at its northern end. Both are relatively uncrowded during the summer season, probably due to the attraction of those of the seaside resort of Mamaia just a couple of kilometers away.

Telephony
Romania is part of those European countries that have joined the abolition of roaming so you can take advantage of your tariff plan like at home. However, if you call Romanian telephone numbers you will pay staggering rates. You can get around by buying a local sim or by subscribing to a paid plan of VOIP services such as Skype.
Internet
Free access to the network via wi-fi is guaranteed by almost all hotels to their customers at no extra charge, as well as by shopping centers and various clubs. Normally, you need to register or request a password from staff. Access to the network is also possible on board city buses and at their terminus, thanks to a free service made available to passengers by the local transport company.

- North
- 4 Mamaia - The most famous of the seaside resorts of the Romania it forms a single urban agglomeration with Costanza and can be reached from the center in 1/4 of an hour by urban bus. Mamaia it extends over a narrow strip of sand about 8 km long between the Black Sea and the Siutghiol lagoon.
- 5 Fortress of Enisala (Cetatea Enisala - 112 km) - Suggestive ruins of a fortress that from above a limestone spur dominates the Razim and Babadag lagoons. The fortress was built at the end of the 13th century and in 1421 it fell into the hands of the Ottomans who established a military garrison there. The last Ottoman commander of the fortress was Evli Çelebi, mentioned in 1651. After him Enisala was abandoned and left to fall into disrepair.
- 6 Tulcea (140 km) - River port from which one usually embarks to discover the spectacular landscapes of delta of the Danube.

- 7 Adamclisi (70 km) - Village in which the Trajan's trophy is located, to commemorate the victory of the Roman emperor Trajan over the Dacians during the battle of Tape, in 101

- 8 Eforie Nord (12 km) - The first of an uninterrupted series of seaside resorts that have tried in vain to equal the primacy of Mamaia.
- 9 Vama Veche (51 km) - Coastal resort frequented by young campers and famous for its nudist beach since the times of communism. After Vama Veche the road continues in Bulgaria.
