background

Dassow, in a strategically important location on the Chaussee Lübeck - Wismar and the Dassower See, was historically a bone of contention between Lübeck and the Mecklenburg Dukes. The border between Dassow and Lübeck along the flood line of the Dassower See resulted from this time. During the division of Germany, this separated Dassow, located in the GDR, from the Baltic Sea, which here belonged to the Federal Republic as Dassower See.
