Dzierżoniów(German: Reichenbach in the Owl Mountains) is a mountain town in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship between the Owl Mountains and the Zobten Mountains, Mountain ranges of the Medium brews. Its location makes the place an important center of tourism in the Owl Mountains. The place is the starting point for hikes in the surrounding mountains.

The place was created before 1230 and was first mentioned in a document in 1250. The Barbarakirche and hospital were built in 1296. The town hall was built before 1337. At the same time, the Augustinian and St. John monasteries and probably also the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem were established. During the period of Polish particularism, he belonged to changing partial duchies, most recently to the Duchy of Schneidwitz-Jauer, which became dependent on Bohemia in 1368. The Hussite Wars and the Thirty Years War brought destruction and suffering to the population. In 1525 the monasteries were dissolved and the place went over to the Reformation, after 1648 the Counter Reformation began. In 1742/1763 the place came to Prussia. In the 19th century tourism began to develop, especially as the place began using in 1855 Świdnica. The place continued to develop, with the exception of the times of the world wars. In 1945 the place came to Poland.
