Little France

Alsace is a very varied region with many churches, castles and also a lot of nature.

Churches

  • Notre-Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg (a beautiful Gothic cathedral in the heart of the city, its 142-meter spire gives an amazing light and made this cathedral the tallest structure in the entire Christian world until the 19th century)
  • The Mont Saint Odile in Ottrott (a beautiful religious building that used to be part of a monastery, it is dedicated to Saint-Odile. Now it is a hotel that is still visited by many pilgrims)

Castles

  • Château Hohlandsbourg in Wettolsheim (situated on a mountain and offers a magnificent 360° view over the plains of Alsace and the Vosges. It is a garrison castle from the 13th century. It is also the largest castle in Alsace with its length of 100 m and width of 60 m. Now it is a location for culture, exchange and sharing and many manifestations are held in this green environment, between Easter and November 11).
  • Château Haut-Koenigsbourg in Orschwiller (it is one of the most visited monuments in France, with 600,000 visitors per year. The castle is built in a strategic place. It was built to explore the wine and wheat routes in the north and the silver and salt routes in the east and west).
