Epfig is a city of Bas-Rhin.

Understand

The town stretches along the gentle slopes of a hill that belongs to the first foothills of the Ungersberg.

The village would have formed around a Roman fort built by Julius Caesar. The locality is mentioned for the first time in 762 and its name would be derived from the Latin "apex" (summit). It is the property of the Bishops of Strasbourg of XIe century to the Revolution.

The municipality extends over 2,200 hectares. The 560 hectares planted with vines on the municipal district make Epfig the largest wine-growing municipality inAlsace. It is crossed by the Fronholz wine trail.

The village of Epfig offers a wide range of services, products to taste, a historical heritage (Château des Rohans ...) and landscapes to discover. The town also hosts the leading French producer of chocolate molds (Easter bunnies, Saint Nicolas ...).
