Strasbourg is a town located in the department of Bas-Rhin in the region Alsace, in the east of the France.

Capital ofAlsace, Strasbourg ((gsw)Strossburi, (of)Straßburg) is mainly known for being the capital of Europe, the city is home to multiple European institutions (European Parliament, Council of Europe, Human Rights Palace, ...). But it is also a very interesting tourist destination, whether historically with its old town listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988 or for the diversity of the districts that make it up; from the nineteenth century university district to the European quarter. The city itself is one of the 9 largest cities in France, and the metropolitan area has nearly half a million inhabitants. It is located in the heart of the so-called: European megalopolis which makes it easy to access for all tourists wishing to visit the city.

By plane

Thanks to Strasbourg's European role, the airport is connected not only to the main French cities but also to many European cities and the rest of the world (Casablanca and Tunis for example...).
A rail shuttle provided by the network T.E.R. Alsace serves Strasbourg train station and provides direct access to the city center by the tram and bus network, all in just ten minutes. The price of a ticket combining the single route on the two networks amounts to 4 €.
For motorists, the airport is well connected to the local road network, especially by highways A 35 and A 352 completely free to use.
By train

Since the establishment of TGV Is in June 2007 between Vaires-sur-Marne (Seine-et-Marne) and Baudrecourt (Moselle), it was necessary to count a travel time of 2 h 20 since Paris. Since 2014, the second section between Baudrecourt and Vendenheim (Bas-Rhin) has completed the line, and the journey between Paris and Strasbourg is now carried out in just 1 h 50. This event confirms the city's vocation as a crossroads-European capital, by connecting it to the network TGV Rhin-Rhône as well as the German ICE (equivalent to the French T.G.V.…).
To get to Strasbourg from other provincial towns, you have to count 6 h 30 To 7 h since Bordeaux (three TGV direct per day), 3 h 20 To 4 h since Lille and 3 h 40 since Lyon (3 h 15 in December 2012…).
On this occasion, numerous development works were undertaken at the Strasbourg train station to cope with the massive arrival of new travelers. Thus, an expansion of the infrastructures with the immense glass roof or "Hall of Transport" which covers part of the station square, and an improvement of the transport platform giving connection to the tram lines. TO and D in their underground station as well as towards the lines of urban buses and intercity coaches has been deeply affected. Since the end of 2011, the new line VS whose terminus is located on the surface (north exit of the station) allows direct access to the university campus through the city center, station Iron Man and place Broglie.

Locally in Alsace, the network T.E.R. is very efficient and fast while ensuring good geographic coverage. It is thus necessary 50 min to link Mulhouse from the Alsatian capital. The city center of Strasbourg (historic center) is largely pedestrian, driving there is therefore strongly discouraged. Better to prefer public transport, cycling or walking to get there and get around.
Cycle paths
With more than 560 kilometers of cycle paths and lanes, Strasbourg has the largest cycling network in France. In addition, the many routes arranged in the Bas-Rhin and Haut-Rhin allow you to travel through all of Alsace by bike. - Line 30 : from Wattwiller To Robertsau (variants Saint Anne and Hunter) via the Saint-Paul Church, the Orangery and the district of the European institutions.
The range of service is of 4 h 30 - 0 h 30, varying according to the mode of transport and the line taken. The number of passages on the bus lines decreases considerably during the summer period, as well as in the evening after 21 h. The route of certain tram lines can also be temporarily modified following unforeseen events (in particular in the city center), or in the summer due to works.

Most tickets are available from ticket vending machines, single tickets can be purchased from bus drivers (no sale on board trams.)
Relay parkings
It should be noted that the Compagnie des Transports Strasbourgeois (CTS) has set up a system of "park-and-ride facilities", open from Monday to Saturday from 7 h - 20 h (exit possible after 20 h), which allows you to park your car for a whole day at a relatively modest price (3,5 € Where 4 € at the parking Rotunda.) Free entry.. – Strasbourg Cathedral stands on a large cobbled square as in the Middle Ages. It rests on the foundations of an old Rhenish basilica built in 1015 by Bishop Wernher, of the Habsburg family. Destroyed by fire, it was replaced by a new cathedral. Almost three centuries passed, from the foundations started in 1176 to the spire completed in 1439 only. Its height of 142 meters away made Notre-Dame de Strasbourg the highest building in Christendom until the 19th centurye century. A climb to the viewing platform of the cathedral in 66 m high allows to have a breathtaking view of the city and its surroundings.
Free entry.- 2 Kammerzell House 16 Cathedral Square – Built in 1589, it is located at the foot of Strasbourg Cathedral. Its wood-paneled exterior and frescoes painted by Leo Shnug make it a must-see in the city. Since 1929, it has been listed in the Supplementary Inventory of Historical Monuments. Since the XIXe century, it serves as a hotel and restaurant where you can taste the many specialties of Alsatian gastronomy and all this in a pleasant setting.
- A detour via rue du Maroquin to the Pig Market Square is also unmistakable. You are then close to the pier for tours of Strasbourg by boat as well as the historical museum.
- 3 Little France – La Petite France is the most picturesque district of old Strasbourg. This district owes its name to the hospital which was built there to accommodate French soldiers suffering from smallpox. Built on the outskirts of the Ill, it hosted for a long time, fishermen, millers and tanners. The alleys of Petite France also retain the names of these professions. They also offer a succession of half-timbered houses of XVIe and XVIIe centuries, with vast interior courtyards with large sloping roofs, opening onto attics where the skins used to dry. In particular, you will be able to see the house where Goethe lived. Near the Petite France district, one can find the Ponts Couvert, dominated by four towers of the XIIe century and XIVe century. These are the remains of the old ramparts which protected the city of Strasbourg.

Gardens and parks
- 16 Orangerie Park – In the largest park in the city stands a pleasure pavilion built in 1806 in honor of the Empress Joséphine, who made several stays in Strasbourg. The development of the French-style park began around 1740, with the rectilinear and radiating layout of its paths. It is integrated into the XIXe century in an English park. THE'Orangery has pleasant attractions. Among them, a lake, surrounded by a romantic waterfall, which allows amateurs to indulge in the joys of boating, a zoo and a breeding of storks grow and multiply with happiness. Nearby, at the "mini-farm", poultry yard and domestic animals delight the little ones. - 17 Deux Rives Garden – Strasbourg and Kehl brought together the two banks of the Rhine in 2004 by creating a vast cross-border garden over an area of over 60 hectares for the Festival des Deux-Rives. It is the first park designed on either side of a border and seals Franco-German friendship. - Molly Malone's 1 Place d'Austerlitz – Un pub irlandais typique. On y sert une petite restauration comprenant des wraps et des planches apéros, avec une formule midi à partir de 7 €. Une grande terrasse ensoleillée où vous pourrez déguster la fameuse Guinness, l'irish coffee et une large sélection de whiskies Singles malts. Happy hour de 18 h 30 - 20 h. Le pub propose un tarif étudiant en journée, où la bière est à 2 €. Tous les premiers et troisièmes jeudis de chaque mois, le Molly Malone's organise une soirée Quizz.
- Place du Marché Gayot Rue des Frères – Terrasses Strasbourgeoises à proximité de la Cathédrale. Restaurants, bars en terrasse.
- Les Frères Berthom Rue des Tonneliers – Bar à bières, proche de la place Gutenberg. Ambiance sympathique, très spacieux.
- L’Épicerie 6 r Vieux Seigle (derrière le cinéma Vox) – Ce petit café présente un cadre volontairement désuet. Les clients s’installent à une grande table, ce qui facilite les rencontres. Tout le microcosme artistique et culturel strasbourgeois s’y retrouve. Souvent plein.
- 4 Le Korrigan 20 rue du Vieux Marché aux Grains (juste à côté de l'Epicerie), 33 3 88 75 03 95 – Un bar très vivant qui se remplit à partir de 1 h du matin jusqu'à 4 h. C'est le bon endroit pour finir votre soirée. Le personnel est très aimable et vous laissera exprimer votre joie avec une tolérance rarissime. À noter que les toilettes sont équipées d'un gerboire.
- D'Schlosserstub 25, Rue des Serruriers 2 € le 1/2 pression. – Derrière ce nom imprononçable, qui signifie "taverne des serruriers", se cache un décor de bierstub chaleureux. Il est fréquenté par des habitués, des étudiants, et des artistes. Souvent bondé après 23 h. Il a un coin non-fumeur. La musique est variée. Les tarifs sont raisonnables. La bière en pression est de la Météor, une des dernières brasseries indépendantes alsaciennes.
- Café Bar Odyssée 3 rue des Francs Bourgeois (en face des Nouvelles Galeries) – Le cadre est intimiste. De la salle, vous pouvez apercevoir le film diffusé dans le cinéma à travers une vitre.
