Throat is a city on the Rhine in the Ortenau.

The city of Kehl is located in the Baden Rhine Plain a few kilometers from the confluence of the Kinzig in the Rhine. The city was first mentioned in a document in 1083, opposite it Strasbourgwith which it had been permanently connected by a bridge since the 14th century. Due to this situation, however, Kehl was repeatedly attacked and destroyed in the course of history. After the First and Second World Wars, the city was under French occupation for several years. In the course of the district reform, several formerly independent places were incorporated, Kehl has been since 1972 Great county seat.

By train
Kehl is on the Europabahn, those of Offenburg to Strasbourg goes. Mon-Fri the trains run every half hour during the day, otherwise every hour. This means that the city has local transport through the Ortenau-Train (Line 719) a good connection to the Rheintalbahn from Karlsruhe to Basel. In long-distance traffic, no trains stop in Kehl.

A close alternative right on the other bank of the Rhine is the YH 2 rives in Strasbourg.
