Speak

Ecuadorians are very respectful. In the Andes people use the "usted" (Mister/Ms.) when they don't know someone. In the country it is very common to use the diminutives: cafecito (cafezinho); please please (please); casita (small house); dear (dear). Instead of using the verb to give, the Andeans say: "Can I give you a little glue?". This would literally mean (Can you give me a little soda?), but it actually means, "Can you sell me a soda?" In Ecuador, in general, people use a lot: Hello, how are you? (Hi how are you?). On the coast, people are more cheerful and outgoing. They speak Spanish faster and also use diminutives. although they use a lot "usted", it is also more common to use the pronoun "you". On the coast, especially in Guayaquil, people tend to be "years" (hanhos). Example: Hola, ñaño, how are you? (Hi, nhanho, how are you?). "year" it means brother or sister, but it is also used among very close friends or relatives.
