Fedderwardersiel belongs to the area municipality Butjadingen, more precisely to the district Burhave. The port - the place doesn't consist of much more - is located on a sluice that connects with the Outer Weser (and North Sea) connected is.

The North Sea resort of Fedderwardersiel is the capital of Germany Crab fishing. The small harbor is home to a number of shrimp cutters that fish the shallow North Sea coast for crabs. From Nordenham taxis and buses go directly to Fedderwardersiel. But be sure to inform yourself in advance, because the bus connections are very sparse, especially during the holidays.
In the street
From the east you can reach Fedderwardersiel from Burhave about the L 860, from Blinking from the Weser ferry Blexen-Bremerhaven coming to the northwest (here it is still called L 858). To the west it then continues to Langwarden, in the far north of Butjadingen, later it is called L 859. A branch from this country road then leads to Fedderwardersiel. The roads are well developed here. You can hardly miss the place.

Dike walks are nice in summer and winter. You can enjoy the country in all directions. On one side the sea and on the other the Wesermarsch with their meadows and cows.
The UNESCO World Natural Heritage "Wadden Sea National Park" is right outside the door. Guided mudflat hikes are offered during the season.
Polygras tennis courts and pedal mobile rentals are located in the holiday park on site.
The FFN North Sea lagoon can be reached on foot in about 10-15 minutes. There you have an artificially created sandy beach where you can go swimming, swimming and various water activities even at low tide. There is also shallow water for children.

The port has its own 1 Fish shop, in which fresh North Sea fish is sold. You can also buy garnet here if there are no cutters on site. The small fish shop is known across the country and offers everything a fish heart desires. If you are on holiday in the area, you should stop by here. You can be really lucky here.
There is a small supermarket (Hafenmarkt Henken) that is open all year round, including Sundays and public holidays. In addition to the usual food and specialties from the North Sea, you can also get souvenirs, large gas bottles (for camping), fishing permits and fresh bread every day (including Sundays and public holidays).

There is the restaurant behind the dike that specializes in catering to larger tourist groups in summer who come here by bus to take a look at the harbor. As in all restaurants in this class, the food is appropriate to the country, so there is plenty of fish and seafood, but the quality is manageable.
Right on the harbor basin, with great Lake view, is the restaurant "Nordseeblick" and the restaurant-café 1 Dat Havenhuus. In addition to good and cheap food with many fish specialties and other delicacies, there is also various models of ships to marvel at.
In season there is a fish snack right at the harbor, where you can enjoy tasty fish rolls and all kinds of warm dishes and drinks.
The crabs, or "garnet" as they say here, are of course typical of Fedderwardersiel. But you also have the opportunity to ask about the bycatch when the cutters come back from the catch. In spring you can be very lucky and get small clods and corn clods for little money. You can easily edit and prepare them. Just a little lemon, salt and pepper, and boiled potatoes. If you like fish, you shouldn't miss it.
nightlife
There is no night life here. If you need some nightlife, you have to go Nordenham or even after Bremerhaven drive. The latter is made more difficult because the Weser ferry does not run all night.

Around the place are in 1 North Sea holiday park various holiday homes. Some of them are privately owned and can also be rented. There is also a guesthouse with fairly basic equipment here. In addition, holiday apartments are also offered in the houses. So much tourist hype is not going on here, it is more of a vacation in tranquil nature.
There is also a campsite for caravans and tents and a very popular one, which is open seasonally 1 RV park (Motorhome port) with electricity and supply / disposal (8, - € / N including disposal).

Mainly in the season there are some small jobs in the catering and cleaning of holiday homes. There are also vacancies in fishing and tourism from time to time. Working conditions and pay are different. Overall, the labor market in the region is rather limited.

Once you have arrived at the port, you have already got along well. From here you can overlook the whole town. The port is, so to speak, the center of the village. All important things take place around the harbor, and there is a post box directly at the harbor market.

Trips to the east and west along the dike are worthwhile. The open sea can be seen from Fedderwardersiel. If you go to the east you come more and more to the mouth of the Weser, to the west more and more to the tip of Butjadingen. These walks are very relaxing in summer and winter.
There is the small one in the harbor of Fedderwardersiel 6 Excursion boat Wega 2, on which you can see the coastal landscape in the Butjadingens area and also get a lot of information about the native flora and fauna. A trip with this boat is always worthwhile. It's educational, but not exhausting at all.
