Bremerhaven is a city at the mouth of the Weser in the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea North Sea. It belongs to the state Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, but lies a good 50 km north of Bremen.

Bremerhaven, which is often referred to as the only major German city on the North Sea, is actually still on the Weser, not the North Sea. The mouth of the Weser, which widens sharply from here, gives the impression of being directly on the sea; the large cruise ships in the overseas port also contribute to the maritime flair of the city. In addition to the connection to the North Sea and the large port facilities, the city also has a number of weather-independent attractions that make the city attractive for a longer stay: the shipping museum and emigration center, climate house and zoo by the sea, and some larger shopping centers invite you to go shopping .
Historically, the city goes back to a former Swedish fortified town, Carlsburg, which was never completed. In 1827 the city of Bremen bought the site in order to build a new port for the increasingly silting city port of the Hanseatic city. In 1830, today's old port was completed, which in the following years - until 1854 - developed into the largest emigration port in Europe. Due to the steadily growing passenger and freight traffic that was handled via the "Bremer Hafen", the facilities in the Old Port became too small in a very short time, so that the New Port was built by 1852. Bremerhaven is known far beyond Germany as a venue for the Sail Bremerhaven, one of the largest windjammer meetings in Europe, which is held every five years.

The striking, 33 m high structure, which is still visible from afar, consists of a combination of a water tower and a residential building. The residential water tower, which is rare as a type, was built in 1927 according to plans by the Wesermünder Stadtbaurat Dr. Wilhelm Kunz (1880-1945) built. In the building there are 2 drinking water tanks made of reinforced concrete with a total capacity of 1500 m³ as well as 24 apartments in a total of five floors, hidden behind a clinker facade in the style of North German brick expressionism.
- 11 Nordschleusenbrücke (Swing bridge), Brückenstrasse, 27568 Bremerhaven. The Nordschleusenbrücke, opened in 1931, is the largest railway swing bridge in Germany with a length of 111.9 m. It connects Columbus Island with the mainland via the channel between the Wendebecken and the Imperial Harbors. During the passage of a seagoing ship, the bridge is often open for 30 minutes and traffic jams in front of it. The waiting time can be used very well to view the passing ship - often assisted by tugs - at close range.

Three high-rise towers up to 88 m high, which are said to be modeled on the chimneys of ships, rise above them. They contain a total of 555 apartments. A glass-covered pedestrian bridge spans the old harbor and connects the center with the Klimahaus and the Outlet & Shopping Center (formerly Mediterraneo). The Bremerhaven-Lehe water tower, built in 1852/53 - also known as the Schwoon water tower after its builder Melchior Schwoon - has been a listed building since 1984. After the conversion of the water supply in Bremerhaven, the now functionless water tower was sold in 1989. The tower, built in the neo-Gothic style, is now used as an event room.
- 13 City Hall Lehe, Brookstrasse 1, 27580 Bremerhaven. The two-storey building, initially built in 1865 as a poor house and orphanage, was converted in 1887 in the neo-Gothic style with rich decorations. It was then used as an artillery barracks. After the Second World War, the building was the headquarters of the building administration. Today the Bremen-Bremerhaven Labor Court has housed individual chambers in the building. Furthermore, the probate court and facilities of the youth welfare office of the city of Bremerhaven are located here. In 1984 the town hall was placed under a preservation order.

- 14 Bremerhaven lighthouse (Old Lighthouse, Big Lighthouse, Simon Loschen Lighthouse), Lohmannstrasse 4, 27568 Bremerhaven. The “Loschenturm” was built in 1856 on the north side of the lock to the New Harbor and is therefore the oldest mainland lighthouse still in operation on the German Bight and is one of the landmarks of Bremerhaven. With its 37 m height, it can be seen from afar and cannot be missed. Although it cannot be visited, the red-brown brick tower with its church-like extensions is a building worth seeing. In July 2007, the Deutsche Post published a 45 cent special postage stamp with the motif of the Loschenturm. It has been a listed building since 1984. The lighthouse still has the function of a leading light today. It is the top light of the leading light line for ships traveling down the Weser.
- 15 Bremerhaven sub-fire (Minaret, onion dome), Willy-Brandt-Platz, 27568 Bremerhaven. The Bremerhaven lower light, also popularly known as the “minaret”, is, together with the Loschenturm, part of the directional line for ships sailing down the Weser. The 26 m high tower was built at the New Harbor in 1893 and has served as a beacon ever since. So that its light could no longer be obscured by ships, it was moved 56 meters away from its original location in 1992 to its current location on the Seebäderkaje, 208 m away from the Loschenturm. Both fires light up synchronously, two seconds on, two seconds off. This lighthouse was also adorned with a 70 cent special postage stamp in June 2017. The building has been a listed building since 1978.
- 16 Lighthouse Kaiserschleuse Ostfeuer (Pingel tower), Lohmannstrasse, 27568 Bremerhaven. The Kaiserschleuse lighthouse (also popularly known as the Pingelturm) is located east of the pier at the entrance to the Kaiserhafen in Bremerhaven. Although it is no longer active as a lighthouse, its external fog bell still sounds in fog and then hits each other four times quickly. That is why it has its name “Pingelturm” (from Low German for bell). Das 15 m hohe aus dem Jahre 1900 stammende rote Backsteingebäude mit grüner Laterne ist am Deich schon aus der Ferne zu erkennen.
- 17 Leuchtfeuer Geestemole-Nord, Am Alten Vorhafen, 27568 Bremerhaven. Der 15 m hohe Leuchtturm ist ein rotbrauner Ziegelturm mit roter, halbkugelförmiger Eisenlaterne und Galerie Er steht auf dem Kopf der Nordmole, der Einfahrt in die Geeste. Die Nordmole ist ein beliebter Treffpunkt für Liebespaare und Freunde schöner Sonnenuntergänge. Seit 2001 stehen der Leuchtturm und die Mole unter Denkmalschutz. Er sichert gemeinsam mit dem grünen Molenfeuer auf dem gegenüberliegenden Ufer, der Südmole, die Einfahrt zur Geeste und zum Fischereihafen.
- 18 Leuchtturm Brinkamahof (Kleiner Roter Sand), Am Seedeich 57, 27572 Bremerhaven (am Rande des NSG Luneplate). Der 26 m hohe Leuchtturm Brinkamahof wurde in den Jahren 1910/1911 auf dem Wurster Watt erbaut. 1980 musste der hübsche Leuchtturm der Erweiterung des Containerterminals weichen und steht seitdem bei der Marina Bremerhaven am Fischereihafen II und dient dort als Wohnhaus und Kneipe (Sailor´s Pub).

- 19 Bürgermeister-Smidt-Denkmal, Theodor-Heuss-Platz, 27568 Bremerhaven. Der Bremer Bürgermeister Johann Smidt (1773-1857) war der der Gründer des „Bremer Havens“, der Keimzelle der heutigen Stadt Bremerhaven. Das Standbild steht auf dem Theodor-Heuss-Platz, dem ehemaligen der Marktplatz der Stadt.
- 20 Auswandererdenkmal, Willy-Brandt-PLatz, 27568 Bremerhaven (auf der Seebäderkaje). Das Auswandererdenkmal auf der Seebäderkaje stelt eine vierköpfige Auswandererfamilie dar. Es soll an die Zeit erinnern, in der per Schiff über Bremerhaven zwischen 1830 und 1870 mehr als 7,2 Millionen Menschen ausgewandert sind. Es steht an einem der Hauptdeiche der Stadt, an der Stelle eines der ehemaligen Docks, von denen früher die Auswanderer abgereist sind.
- 21 Lale-Andersen-Laterne, Lutherstraße 3, 27576 Bremerhaven. Als Hommage aufgestellt vor dem Geburtshaus der aus Lehe stammenden Sängerin Lale Andersen und vor allem an ihr Lied „Lili Marleen".
- Klabautermann-Brunnen, Von-Ronzelen-Straße, 27568 Bremerhaven (auf der Terrasse des Restaurants " Der Wasserschout"). Nah am Museumshafen des Deutschen Schifffahrtsmuseums, Richtung Radarturm, steht ein außergewöhnlicher Brunnen. Mit einer Figur, die man dort normalerweise nicht findet. Ganz oben auf dem Brunnen thront auf einem Dalben der Klabautermann. Hier ist auch einer der Endpunkte der Deutschen Märchenstraße.
- 22 Bugwelle von Bremerhaven, Theodor-Heuss-Platz, 27568 Bremerhaven. Die Bugwelle von Bremerhaven ist eine Brunnenskulptur. Die mittig in die Bürgermeister-Smidt-Straße platzierte Brunnenskulptur ist ein als Bronze ausgeführter Schiffsbug mit weiblicher Galionsfigur und zwei seitlich abgesetzten Bugwellenstücken, über die Wasser fließt. Die weibliche Galionsfigur begrüßt die Besucher der Fußgängerzone. Bewegt sich der Betrachter um die Figur herum, ändert sich der Altersausdruck des Gesichtes.
- 23 Columbus-Statue. Die Columbus-Statue steht in Höhe des U-Bootes Wilhelm Bauer mittig zwischen den zwei höchsten Gebäuden des Columbus-Centers. Sie war eine Spende des in Amerika reich gewordenen Partikuliers Bernhard von Glan, wurde aber während des Ersten Weltkriegs für die Rüstungsindustrie eingeschmolzen, und 1978 wurde schließlich ein Bronzeabguss an dem heutigen Standort aufgestellt.

Semaphor
- 24 Semaphor (Windstärken- und Windrichtungsanzeiger), Lohmanndeich, 27568 Bremerhaven. Auf der Nordmole der Einfahrt zum Neuen Hafen wurde der Semaphor vom Leuchtturm Hohe Weg wieder aufgebaut und in Betrieb genommen. Der 19,3 m hohe Semaphor wurde 1893 als Signalgerüst auf der Anlegebrücke des Turms des Leuchtturms errichtet. Der Semaphor zeigt mit zwei jeweils 4,5 m langen Zeigern die Windrichtung auf Borkum (B) und Helgoland (H) an. Sechs je 1,5 m lange Zeiger zeigen die Windstärken Eins bis Zwölf an. Die Stadt Bremerhaven ließ den Semaphor zum Windjammer-Treff „Sail 2005“ mit Verwendung der erhaltenen Originalteile rekonstruieren. Die Daten zur Anzeige werden alle zwei Stunden aktualisiert und optisch sichtbar angezeigt.
- 25 Wasserstandsanzeiger, Am Strom 7, 27568 Bremerhaven (am Weserstrandbad). Der 1903 erbaute Wasserstandsanzeiger am Südende des Weserdeichs informierte Schiffsführungen zum Gezeitenstand der Wesermündung. Die fast 32 Meter hohe stählerne Gitterkonstruktion ist die einzige erhalten gebliebene historische Anlage ihrer Art an der Deutschen Bucht und zeigte bis 1973 den aktuellen Wasserstand der Weser über Seekarten-Null an. Mit Einführung der Funktechnik verlor der Wasserstandsanzeiger an Bedeutung für die Seefahrt. Seit 1998 ist er als technisches Denkmal dem Deutschen Schifffahrtsmuseum (DSM) zugeordnet. Die Wasserstandsanzeige ist heute manchmal nur „Zierde“, weil die Computersteuerung nicht immer funktioniert.
- 26 Werft-Kran, Uferstraße, 27568 Bremerhaven (am Geestewanderweg). Am Geestewanderweg steht auf dem Gelände der früheren Rickmers Werft in der Nähe der heutigen Agentur für Arbeit ein 2003 wieder instand gesetzter, 35,5 m hoher Werftkran. Der Kran hatte eine Tragkraft von bis zu 20 Tonnen. Die Rickmers Werft war 1834 gegründet worden und entwickelte sich zu einem angesehenen Schiffbauunternehmen in Europa und zu einem der führenden der Welt. Hiervon zeugen heute noch der Werftkran und das Werfttor. Die Rickmers Werft wurde 1986 geschlossen. Der Kran ist heute ein Zeitzeuge der vergangenen Ära des Schiffbaus in Bremerhaven.
- 27 Druckwasserdrehkran (am Westpier des Kaiserhafens). .Der mit Druckwasser betriebene Hydraulikkran wurde 1899 in Betrieb genommen. Betrieben wurde der Kran von dem ca. 100 m entfernt liegenden zentralen Maschinenhaus, dem "Alten Kraftwerk". Das Kraftwerk versorgte über ein Hydraulik-Druckwasser-System die maschinellen Anlagen der ersten Kaiserschleuse und auch den Drehkran. Im Jahre 1983 wurde der Betrieb des Kranes eingestellt und steht seit dem 20. Juli 1984 unter Denkmalschutz. Nach einer Restaurierung wurde der Kran 1998 dem Förderverein „Maritimer Denkmalschutz e.V." Bremerhaven übergeben.Open: 24/7.
- 28 Turas, Bussestraße, 27570 Bremerhaven (nahe Doppelschleuse). Nahe der Doppelschleuse ist das Oberturas, das gezahnte obere Kettenrad der Eimerkette des 1914 gebauten Eimerbaggers Bagger I zu bestaunen. Die zwei Antriebsräder von 4,30 m Durchmesser stammen von dem 1980 ausgemusterten Eimerbagger. Mit seiner Kette mit 40 Eimern belief sich die Leistung des Baggers auf 650 m³ Schlick pro Stunde. Die max. erreichbare Baggertiefe reichte bis 14 m.

- Der kurzen kalten Abschnitte wegen muss keine Winterausrüstung mitgeführt werden! Beim Rundgang wandert man kreuz und quer durch das Gebäude, auch einige Treppen und enge Stellen sind dabei. Es gibt auch einen barrierefreien Weg durch das Klimahaus, er erreicht aber nicht alle interessanten Stellen.
- Das Ausstellungskonzept der Weltreise unterliegt einer ausgeprägten "Edutainment"-Orientierung und ist mehr auf Entertainment denn auf Faktenwissen hin orientiert - ein Ausstellungskonzept, das sichtbar mit Begeisterung aufgenommen wird, aber vertiefte Auseinandersetzung mit dem eigentlichen Anliegen - dem Klimaschutz - kaum zulässt. An Tagen mit regem Publikumsverkehr herrscht zudem in einigen Bereichen ein ziemliches Gedränge, so dass man Geduld braucht, um z.B. sich an allen Hörstationen und den Texttafeln informieren zu können.
- Weitere Ausstellungen zum Thema Elemente (vor allem die Wetterstation aber auch Experimentierstationen), Klima ("Perspektiven", "Chancen") und Aquarien. Die Wetterstation ist ganztägig geöffnet, die Wettershows finden aber nur Mo. bis Fr. um 14:00 und 16:00 Uhr statt, am Wochenende stündlich von 14:00 bis 18:00 Uhr. Auch andere Bereiche haben begrenzte Aktivitäts-/Öffnungszeiten. Wer als Erwachsener ohne kleinere Kinder oder mit Jugendlichen die Ausstellung besucht, sollte sich vorher über die Öffnungszeiten der ergänzenden Ausstellungen informieren und die Weltreise ggf. etwas schneller absolvieren, um ausreichend Zeit für die sehr informativen ergänzenden Angebote zu haben.
- Die Karte berechtigt nur zum einmaligen Eintritt, ein zwischenzeitliches Verlassen des Gebäudes ist nicht möglich.
- Selbstverpflegung nur auf der Landschaftstreppe im Foyer oder der Dachterrasse (letztere ist auch einen Tipp wert!). Gastronomie im Klimahaus: Café "südwärts" (11:00-17:00 Uhr), SB-Restaurant "Längengrad" (11:00-16:00 Uhr) und "Axel's Bar" (16:00-19:00 Uhr).
- Der obligatorische Shop mit allerhand Produkten mit dem Logo vom Klimahaus ist natürlich auch vorhanden, er ist gleichzeitig der Ausgang aus dem Klimahaus.

- Insgesamt 7,2 Mio Menschen sind über Bremerhaven nach Nord- und Südamerika ausgewandert, da liegt es nahe, dass sich hier auch ein Museum befindet, das deren Geschichte dokumentiert. 2007 erhielt das Museum die Auszeichnung "Europäisches Museum des Jahres". Beim Besuch bekommt man die Biografie eines Auswanderers in die Hand (in Form einer "iCard"), die auf dem Rundgang immer wieder den persönlichen Bezug herstellt: der Abschied aus der Heimat, die Überfahrt, die Neuanfänge in dem gewählten Land. Man wird immer nur gruppenweise in den Ausstellungsrundgang gelassen, was insbesondere im ersten Ausstellungsszenario einen sehr realistischen Eindruck vom Gedränge rund um die damaligen Einschiffungen vermittelt. Auch sonst sind die dargestellten Räumlichkeiten oft naturgetreu eng nachgestellt - bei hohem Publikumsandrang braucht man viel Geduld beim Anstehen an den Hörstationen und sollte möglichst nicht zur Klaustrophobie neigen.
- Anhand der Deutschen Auswanderer-Datenbank (DAD, wird vom Historischen Museum betrieben) kann eigenen Verwandten nachgeforscht werden, die über BHV ausgewandert sind. Seit April 2012 ist auch der Anbau mit der Einwanderungsgeschichte geöffnet. Hier befindet sich auch das Restaurant Speisesaal mit einer schönen Außenterrasse.

- The Museumshafen war der erste Hafen der Stadt (1827 gebaut), daher heißt er auch 19 Alter Hafen. Neben den Schiffen sind hier auch Kräne und andere Exponate im Freilichtmuseum ausgestellt, z. B. der Schornstein des einzigen deutschen Handelsschiffes mit Atomantrieb "Otto Hahn". Eine holländische Klappbrücke stellt die Verbindung zum Columbuscenter her. - Die 1919 gebaute hölzerne Bark und als Restaurantschiff genutzte Seute Deern (plattdeutsch für "Süßes Mädchen") ist am 15. Februar 2019 an ihrem Liegeplatz in Brand geraten, konnte dann noch mit erheblichem Aufwand aufrecht gehalten werden und sank dann schließlich am 30. August 2019 auf den Grund des Hafens. Anfang 2020 begann die Abwrackung des Schiffes.

- Das zum Historischen Museum gehörende 34 Museumsschiff FMS „GERA“ liegt im "Schaufenster Fischereihafen" an der Straße Fischkai. Das Fischereimotorschiff (FMS) „GERA“ ist das letzte noch erhaltene Exemplar der traditionsreichen Fangflotte der Seitentrawler und das einzige schwimmende Hochseefischerei-Museum in Europa. Das 65,55 m lange Schiff war 1960 auf der Peene-Werft, Wolgast, gebaut worden und war bis Juni 1990 für das VEB Fischkombinat Rostock im Einsatz. Auf dem Schiff ist vor über 50 Jahren die Zeit stehen geblieben. Bis heute ist vom Schleppnetz auf dem Fangdeck über die Kochtöpfe in der Kombüse bis hin zu den Klamotten des Alten in der Kapitänskajüte noch alles an seinem Platz. Selbst die Maschinenanlage tut noch immer ihren Dienst. Ausstellungen im Netzraum und Fischladeraum informieren über die Fangtechnik, die Einsatzgebiete und die gefangenen Seefischarten.

- 6 Stadtpark Lehe. Der Park lädt zu Ruhe und Erholung, Fitness, Spiel und Entdeckungen ein. Hier findet man Spielplatz, Fitness- und Motorikgeräte. Viele Bänke laden zum ausgiebigen Verweilen und Genießen ein.
- 7 Saarpark. Der Saarpark im OT Lehe stellt ebenfalls eine öffentliche Freifläche dar, ist aber deutlich kleiner als der Stadtpark.
- 8 Landschaftsschutzgebiet Surheide-Süd/Ahnthammsmoor. Das 157 ha große Landschaftsschutzgebiet kann zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad erkundet werden. Dort befindet sich auch der Stadtwald – das größte Waldgebiet Bremerhavens. An der Wulsdorfer Baggerkuhle, die als Angelgewässer genutzt wird, gibt es einen Rundweg zum Spazierengehen. Der ist allerdings für Kinderwagen und Buggys nicht geeignet. Das Baden ist weder in der Wulsdorfer Baggerkuhle noch im angrenzenden Apeler See erlaubt.
- 9 Friedhof Lehe III (Zufahrt über Dwarsweg 10). Der Friedhof Lehe III mit einer Größe von ca. 13,5 ha wirkt durch den alten Baumbestand sehr parkähnlich. Er wurde im April 1868 gegründet und durch eine 2002 umgebaute Kapelle modernisiert.
- The Geestewanderweg führt auf 12 km Länge zwischen Geeste-Mündung und Schiffdorfer Stauschleuse entlang der Geeste und bietet schöne Ausblicke auf die Stadt, vorbei an den ehemaligen Werften, durch das Kapitänsviertel, vorbei an Sportbootvereinen. Der Weg ist beliebt bei Joggern.
- 10 Erholungsgebiet Erikasee, Jakob-Kaiser-Straße, 27578 Bremerhaven (im OT Leherheide-West). Das 8,6 Hektar große Naturhabitat ist ein kleines, städtisches Erholungsgebiet. Hier findet man Schaukelspaß, XXL-Bänke, Hängematten, einen Moorerlebnispfad, jede Menge Platz zum Picknicken und einen schönen Grillplatz. Das gesamte Areal umfasst 8,6 Hektar, 2,5 davon sind für den Menschen direkt nutzbar. Der 3600 m² große See bietet Lebensraum für Wasservögel und zahlreiche Insekten. Vor allem gibt es hier sehr viele Libellen. Baden ist hier allerdings nicht erlaubt. Er bietet eine Möglichkeit zur Entspannung, Ruhe und Freizeitgestaltung in direkter Nähe zu einem nicht unbedingt reizvollen Wohngebiet. Dabei kann man allerdings das Brummen der vorbei führenden Autobahn nicht überhören.
- 38 Naturschutzgebiet Luneplate, Am Seedeich, 27572 Bremerhaven. Das Naturschutzgebiet Luneplate ist mit etwa 1400 ha das größte Naturschutzgebiet im Land Bremen. Geprägt wird die Luneplate durch Marschgrünland, Wattflächen und den Tidepolder. Die künstlich angelegte Überflutungsfläche liegt tiefer als das Weserhochwasser und wird zweimal am Tag überspült. Wasserbüffel und Galloway-Rinder sorgen für ideale Lebensbedingungen diverser Vogelarten. Im Winter dienen die Flachwasserbereiche mehr als 10.000 Vögeln als Rast- und Schlafplatz. Besucher können die Tierwelt ungestört über Rundwege und verschiedene Beobachtungsanlagen betrachten. Neben dem Aussichtsturm im Süden der Luneplate gibt es auch ein Beobachtungsversteck, zwei Besucherplattformen und zwei Info-Pavillons an den Parkplätzen. Erkunden lässt sich das weitläufige Gebiet ausschließlich zu Fuß oder mit dem Fahrrad.

Schaufenster Fischereihafen
- The 3 Schaufenster Fischereihafen. liegt ca. 2 km südlich der Stadtmitte nahe der . Das Schaufenster ist eine maritime Erlebniswelt rund um den Fisch und das Meer. In einer ehemaligen Fischpackhalle liegen Tür an Tür gehobene Restaurants und gemütliche Hafenkneipen, Geschäfte mit maritimem Zubehör, und natürlich gibt es Fisch in allen Variationen. Auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des großen, freien Platzes liegt der Fischbahnhof. Er bietet Unterhaltung und Informationen: das Seefischkochstudio, kleine Geschäfte, ein Café und das Theater im Fischereihafen sowie eine Außenstelle der Touristinformation. Die interaktive Wissensausstellung „Expedition Nordmeere – Fischereiwelten Bremerhaven“ führt in die Welt der Fische und deren Lebensräume in den Nordmeeren und gibt Einblicke in die Geschichte der Fischindustrie. Auf dem Platz finden viele Events statt, u. a. auch das kostenlose Open-Air-Kino und der Bremerhavener Musiksommer. Seit 1995 findet hier auch immer Ende April die Fischparty statt, das größte kulinarische „Fisch“-Festival Norddeutschlands. Außerdem ist hier der Startpunkt des Hafenbusses und es gibt Hafenrundfahrten durch den Fischereihafen. Am Schaufenster Fischereihafen liegt auch das Museumsschiff FMS "GERA", eine Außenstelle des Historischen Museums Bremerhaven.

- Sail-Bremerhaven 2025 The Sail ist ein internationales Festival der Windjammer, das 2015 bereits zum achten Mal in Bremerhaven veranstaltet wurde. Aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie musste die Sail-2020 ausfallen. Die Veranstaltung, die sich über alle Hafenbereiche der Stadt erstreckt, besteht aus Paraden der Großsegler, Open-ship-Aktionen, Konzerten und allerlei Rahmenprogramm. 2015 waren u.a. die Staatsrat Lehmkuhl and the Krusenstern in Bremerhaven eingelaufen, zwei Segelschulschiffe, die auf Werften in Bremerhaven gebaut wurden. Die nächste Sail-Bremerhaven findet im August 2025 statt.
- Landgang Bremerhaven: Das SeeStadtFest Das SeeStadtFest fand vom 26. - 29. Mai 2016 zum ersten Mal statt. Es soll zukünftig jeweils in der letzten Mai-Woche ausgerichtet werden. Windjammer zum Anschauen und Anfassen und ein buntes Programm in den Havenwelten an Land und zu Wasser prägen die Großveranstaltung. Kleinkünstler, Street Food und maritimes Kunsthandwerk sind ebenfalls zu erleben, ebenso ein vielfältiges Musikprogramm sowie Aktivitäten für Kinder. Stars aber sind die großen und kleinen Schiffe unter Segel oder mit Motor.

Zur Raucherregelung: Viele Kneipen mit nur einem Gastraum sind für Raucher geöffnet, und dürfen deswegen keine Kinder und Jugendlichen in den Innenbereichen bewirten.
Als Seestadt sind Fischgerichte natürlich überall zu finden. Die Fischvielfalt des Meeres findet sich daher auch auf den Speisenkarten der Restaurants, Bistros und Gaststätten wider. Köstliche, traditionelle Fischgerichte erwarten den Gast zum Beispiel im Schaufenster Fischereihafen. Das Angebot reicht von Fischbrötchen in allen denkbaren Varianten, über fangfrische Krabben („Granat“) und Fisch frisch aus dem Rauch bis hin zu erlesenen Spezialitäten. Auch der traditionelle Backfisch in den diversen Fischbratküchen ist nicht zu verachten und häufig eine schnelle und preisgünstige Alternative. Doch auch Nicht-Fischesser kommen in Bremerhaven auf ihre Kosten.
Regionale Spezialitäten sind an vielen Orten in der Stadt erhältlich, teilweise auch zum Mitnehmen:
- In den Wintermonaten sollte man eine deftige Portion Grünkohl mit Pinkel nicht versäumen. In Bremerhaven schmeckt der Grünkohl mit der berühmten fetten Pinkelwurst anders als im Umland.
- Zu jeder Jahreszeit schmeckt Labskaus, ein Seemannsgericht aus der Segelschiffszeit. Auch wenn das Aussehen so manchen abschreckt, der Geschmack entschädigt den hungrigen Gast.
- Zum Dessert gehört eine Rote Grütze, köstlich mit Vanillesauce, zu Crêpes und Waffeln oder heiß auf Eis.
- Dazu zur besseren Verdauung sollte man sich einen „Altleher Hahnentritt“ gönnen. Dieser hochprozentige Kräuterlikör aus Beeren und heimischen Kräutern ist dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die verwendeten Kräuter-, Beeren- und Wurzelextrakte aus der Region Bremerhaven stammen.
