getting there

View of the ferry "Hilligenlei I"

The journey to Hallig Langeneß inevitably takes place almost always by ship via the harbor 1 SchlüttsielWebsite of this institutionSchlüttsiel in the encyclopedia WikipediaSchlüttsiel in the media directory Wikimedia CommonsSchlüttsiel (Q882008) in the Wikidata database, there is no airfield on the Hallig. Then it goes on ...

With the ship from Schlüttsiel

From the ferry terminal in Schlüttsiel there is a direct ferry connection to the 2 Investors the Hallig Langeneß with the WDR (Wyker steamship shipping company).

Car ferry "Hilligenlei": The 38 m long ship was built in 1985 in Husum. The ferry was named after the terp of the same name on the Hallig Langeness. The ferry can carry up to 30 cars and an additional 300 people. The motor ship reaches up to 10 knots (= 18 km / h). The passenger deck with great views and sheltered from the wind is located above the car deck at the rear between the chimneys. In the belly of the ship there is a saloon where you can eat.

There is also the option of taking the ferry from Dagebüll to Föhr or Amrum. From there you can take an excursion boat to Langeness. However, this variant is quite time-consuming because the connections are not coordinated with one another.

With the Lorenbahn from Dagebüll

Of Dagebüll (Train station) runs one non-publicLorenbahn via Oland to Langeness. Only overnight guests of the Hallig Oland can use the transfer with the Lorenbahn to the mainland after consultation with the landlord. For insurance reasons, the Lorenbahn can only be used by locals to and from Langeneß, no passengers will be taken with them, as otherwise the use of the train will be permanently prohibited. So please don't press the hosts.

  • To go biking - Especially for day trippers, who come from Föhr and Amrum, for example, a bike tour over the 10 km long Hallig is a popular activity. If you don't have your own bike, you can borrow one at the ferry terminal. For the return trip you should plan enough time, especially when there is a headwind, so that you don't miss the ferry. The Hallig map at the ferry terminal warns "Attention cyclists: in a headwind, the route is three times as long".
