Fiumicino is a city of Central Lazio, in the province of Rome.
To know
In the municipal area of Fiumicino there is the1 Rome-Fiumicino international airport named after Leonardo da Vinci. The airport is located approximately 30 kilometers west of the city of Rome.
Geographical notes
The urban center is located on the Tyrrhenian coast north of the Tiber river delta. The old part of the town is located along via Torre Clementina.
When to go
The town is particularly popular during the summer and on weekends.
Background
The center developed exponentially during the nineteenth century when the reclamation of the area and the construction of the actual urban core began. The demographic boom that has occurred in the area surrounding the capital has led Fiumicino to be one of the most populous and largest centers in the region Lazio.

By car
Fiumicino can be reached from Rome via the A91 motorway and from Civitavecchia via the A12 motorway. About 12 kilometers from the city center there is the Grande Raccordo Anulare of Rome where there is the Fiumicino-Civitavecchia junction.
On the train
The Fiumicino Aeroporto FS station which connects the international airport with the Roma Termini station, through a non-stop service between Roma Termini and the airport station called "Leonardo Express".
The Fiumicino Airport station is also served by the FL1 regional railway which operates a service with intermediate stops and connects the airport to the Parco Leonardo station (located close to the same shopping center) and to the stations in the urban area of Roma Ostiense, Rome. Tiburtina, Fara Sabina ed OrteIn its municipal territory there are the two stations of Maccarese-Fregene and Torrimpietra-Palidoro which serve the populous hamlets and are located along the FL5 railway line (Rome-Ladispoli-Civitavecchia)
By bus
Terravision operates a direct bus service from Terminal 3 between Fiumicino airport and Roma Termini. Shuttles depart every 30 minutes and cover all arriving and departing flights.
