background

The Gattergebirge was created during the Würm Ice Age (115,000 to 10,000 BC) and is a terminal moraine landscape. For this reason, there are excellent views from some non-tree-lined points: From Hinterberg and the Andrebauernkapelle you have a magnificent view to the north, from which you can see the hilly country behind the Isental and the lower Goldachtal. You can also see very far in the area between Hilgen and Leimgruben, here the view is even better, and on a clear day you can marvel at the Alpine chain.
