Grafenhausen is a city in Southern Black Forest close to Wutach Gorge.

Grafenhausen is a municipality in the southern Black Forest and lies between Bonndorf and the Schluchsee, politically it belongs to the district of Waldshut.

history

The first settlement was founded in 1078 by the Count of Nellenburg, and in 1082 a monastery cell of the All Saints monastery was established Schaffhausen built. By exchanging land for the municipalities Schleitheim and Committed in the Schaffhauser Randental Grafenhausen came to the Stühlingen estate in 1530.
In 1934 the previously independent towns of Geroldshofstetten, Rippoldsried and Rötenberg were incorporated, and Mettenberg and Staufen were incorporated in 1972/1974 as part of the community reform.
Neighboring communities are Bonndorf, Ühlingen-Birkendorf, Houses and Schluchsee.
