Gudensberg is a city in North Hesse, located about 20 km south of Kassel.
background
Districts
As part of the territorial reform of 1974, the villages of Deute, Dissen, Dorla, Gleichen, Maden and Obervorschütz became districts of the city of Gudensberg.
getting there
By plane
In the street
The city can be reached quickly from Kassel via the A 49 motorway (20 km).
Those coming from the A 7 leave it at the Melsungen junction and drive via Felsberg, Niedervorschütz and Maden to Gudensberg (about 13 km from the A 7).
By bus and train
Gudensberg does not have a train station. The former railway connection to the city, a small railway from the Fulda valley, has long since been shut down. Today, the route is largely a cycling and hiking trail.
From the Wilhelmshöhe long-distance train station and Kassel city center, Gudensberg is with the Express bus line 500 which runs every two hours from Kassel via Gudensberg and Fritzlar to Bad Wildungen. The journey time is 38 minutes from the Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe long-distance train station to the central "Gudensberg Rathaus" stop near the old town. From Kassel city center (stop "Kassel Rathaus / Fünffensterstraße") line 500 only takes 26 minutes.Timetable, PDF 84 KB
Alternatively, there is an approach via the one to the south Wabern railway station (Intercity stop on the Frankfurt am Main - Hamburg line and the Frankfurt am Main regional express stop - Kassel). Attention: Wabern train station only has stairs. The bus connections from Wabern train station to Gudensberg are not exactly fast. Depending on the day of the week and the time of day, it takes 37 to 40 minutes (sometimes even over an hour) to cover the 9 km straight line. On weekdays, the fastest way to travel is by bus via Fritzlar (40 minutes travel time with one change in Fritzlar).
General information on regional public transport can be found on the page of the NVV.
By bicycle
A nice route by bike to Gudensberg is Kleinbahnradweg Grifte - Gudensberg. The 8 km long route branches south of Grifte vom Eder cycle path and leads slowly over 80 meters up to Gudensberg (beautiful family route; from the route half gravel and half asphalt path). In Grifte there is a connection to the local traffic of the Kassel - Schwalmstadt-Treysa line.
It's not far from Grifte to Guxhagen Fulda cycle path.
Alternatively, Gudensberg can be reached from Wabern train station via Niedermöllrich, Cappel, and Niedervorschütz: almost 11 km of hilly, but partly beautiful route (especially in the area of the "Oberstes Holz" forest area with a view of Gudensberg).
The Chattengau-Fulda cycle path and the Chattengauweg pass the place.
