Attractions

Park Mountain and the Sudety Reservoir in Bielawa

The vicinity of the top of Parkowa Mountain is covered with a mixed forest with a predominance of spruce, linden and oak, and there are many walking and cycling paths in the forest. At the top, there is an observation tower, erected in June 1925, to which there are 3 marked hiking trails of varying degrees of difficulty. You can admire the panorama from the tower Bielawy and the surrounding area, and in good weather you can see towns up to 30 km away. The first two towers had a wooden structure. The current steel structure was the first of its kind in the poviat, and its founder was the local branch Eulengebirgsverein (Towarzystwo Sowiogórskiego) with Wolfgang Dierig as chairman. In his honor, the tower was named after him (Germ. Wolfgangturm). There was a restaurant near the summit (it is planned to recreate catering services there). On the western side of the slope there is a rock wall called The White Rock, which is a remnant of a quarry closed in the 19th century. On the northern slope of Góra Parkowa there is a 200-meter ski lift "Krasnal" with a slope of 14 ° and a toboggan run. In the central part of the slope on the south side, near the closed ski lift, there are barbecue stands.

The northwestern slopes of Góra Parkowa join a small hill Studnik with a height of 375 m above sea level, also called Góra Maślana. On the western slope there is a culmination of 391 m above sea level, commonly referred to as Mount Maciek or Pagan mountain. The area to the east of the peak has a slight slope. Before 1940, this area belonged to the Dierig company (after 1945 BZPB of the Second Polish Army, closed in 2008), which used it as pastures for its farm. Cattle were grazed here until the end of the 1960s, after which, in the place of pastures, allotments were created for them. Gen. Wł. Sikorski and "Joy" (est. 1976), now largely neglected. Western slopes Studnik they are steep and overgrown with forest.

At the foot of Góra Parkowa there is a fish pond with an area of 3.2 hectares and a depth of 2 meters, known as the Brickyard. However, I do not recommend swimming because of possible leeches and other fish. Ice skating can be practiced there during the cold winter. The reservoir is managed by the PZW, which organizes a float competition every year for the cup of the president of the PZW Bielawa Circle. It includes species such as pike, roach, crucian carp, carp, bream and perch. The pond was created as a result of flooding the clay excavation with a brickyard operating here until 1945. According to cartographic sources, the excavation had been in operation as early as 1896 or earlier, while the B. Neugebauer brickyard, which was built next to it, appeared on maps along with the buildings and the chimney of the firing plant in 1923, 1936 and 1940.

Accommodation

There is no hostel upstairs because it is not that big, so you can sleep in nearby hotels in Bielawa or, if you are planning a longer hike in the mountains, you can walk further through Mount Maciek, New Bielawa and Three Beechesuntil on The ridge, near which the Zygmuntów Hostel is located.

Bonfires

There are specially designated places for bonfires in Góra Parkowa and at Cegielnia, there are about 10 of them, so you do not have to worry that there will not be enough space.
