History

Górki Wielkie is one of the oldest noble villages in Cieszyn Silesia, which dates back to the 14th century.first mentioned in a Latin document Liber fundationis episcopatus Vratislaviensis (half. Book of salaries of the Wrocław bishopric) written during the times of bishop Henry of Wierzbno in the years 1295–1305 as Gorki (i) villa vlodariIt was an atypical record, which allows us to believe that this villageshe was much older. Entering it into the said document was probably related to the separation from its territory, which had previously been owneda princely village, a new village given to a knight. The part of the village remaining in the hands of the princes was named Górki Małeand the knight's part Górki Wielkie. So the princely "Górki Małe" and the knightly ones Great hills. they probably functioned already in the Cieszyn castellany, and from 1290 in the new Cieszyn Duchy. From 1417, Górki Wielkie was ruled by a noble familyFive years. In 1447, Andrzej Pięćlat of Ogrodzona sold Wielkie and Małe Górki to Piotr Ramsza. Then there were other owners, even in the 19th century.The Habsburg dukes of Cieszyn, according to the Austrian census of 1900, in 124 buildings in Górki Wielkie, 957 people lived in the area of ​​1469 ha,ie the population density was 65.1 people / km². Of these, 838 (87.6%) inhabitants were Catholic, 114 (11.9%) Protestants (Lutherans) and 5(0.5%) followers of Judaism; 951 (99.4%) were Polish, 5 were German and 1 were Czech.

According to National Heritage Institute, there are the following historic buildings in the village:

  • The parish church of All the saints (Pod Zebrzydkę Street6) (reg.no .: (R / 431/54) 146/60 of 02.27.1960 and A-313/78 of 1978). This is one of the oldest churches in the Cieszyn region, built in Góreckiceh of inhabitants in the 15th century. The chancel dates from the 15th century, and the tower and the broader part of the main name - from 1662. It is worth paying attention to the family's coat of armsGórecki on the door of the sacristy, as well as on the baptismal font from the 16th century, today used as a stoup at the entrance, and on the historic pulpit from the 18th century.Rebuilt in 1662 and renovated several times, it lost most of its Gothic features. A brick, single-nave building with a strongly elongated, semicircular shapeclosed presbytery, has baroque-classicist decor and equipment.
In the brick gate of the fence, the tombstone of Henryk Górecki of the Kornicz coat of arms,who died in 1682. Next to the church, there is a cemetery where, among others, graves Zofia Kossak and her husband Zygmunt Szatkowski (died 1976), and also Valentine Krząszcz.
  • The greatest tourist attraction of Górki is a noble manor complex from the 18th century (registration number: 972/68 from 30/12/1968 and A-369/78 from 17/10/1978). The manor house, built in 1734 at the request of Helena Marklowska and Hieronim Marklowski, was leased and then purchased in 1922 by Tadeusz Kossak from a famous family of painters, the father of a famous writer Zofia Kossak-Szczucka, the second vote of Szatkowska. Tadeusz Kossak lived there with his family,His daughter, a writer, lived and worked here. The so-called gardener's cottage (now Museum of Zofia Kossak-Szatkowska),a few farm buildings (today very damaged) and an alley of 200-year-old limes and oaks leading to them. The writer's last apartment in the gardener's cottage (from 1957r.) was turned into a biographical museum devoted to her, (Museum of Zofia Kossak-Szatkowska, Stary Dwór 2, tel. 33 8539515, http://www.muzeumkossak.pl).The writer spent the last years of her life in the gardener's house after returning from emigration (1957-1968). Home decor, furniture and appliances were kept in these places,in which they stood during Zofia Kossak's lifetime, so that visitors would have the impression that the Szatkowski family left only for a moment and will be back soon.

The restored building houses the Center of Culture and Art "DwórKossaków "(ul. Since 2008, cycles have been organized in the manor housecultural events under the name "Artistic Summer at Kossaków", and in addition, literary, journalism, art and theater workshops are conducted.
The writer's grave is located in the local cemetery, and commemorative plaques have been placed on the church and the catechetical house.
  • Not far from the Kossak Center are locatedbuildings intended for modernization of the former Stanica Harcerska, which before World War II housed the buildings founded by Aleksander Kamiński Scout Instructor School.
  • In 1931, on the Bucze Hill, the watchtower of the Polish Scouting Association was established, and then the Central School of Instructors of the Polish Scouting Association.In the village itself, less than 2 km away (Górki Sojka), there was the ZHP School of Social Work. Until 1939, it was headed by the founder of the Polish craze movement,later soldier of the Home Army and teacher, Aleksander Kamiński (commemorative plaque on the building). After World War II, both scouting facilities were taken for medical purposes.
